On the occasion of Heritage Days next 18 and 19 September, the Cinémathèque of Grenoble and IVM propose a journey in the ancient city center that reveals singular urban passages and revisits the notion of passage through yesterday’s and today’s films. Famous passages, discrete or original ones, passing from one film to the other, through public spaces and buildings to discover and explore the city in a different way: passages from architecture to cinema.
A path leading from the Place Grenette to the banks of the Isere, going through heritage spaces -helical Garage, Garden City, former City Hall, Grenoble Cinémathèque, Juliet Berto Cinema, former Parliament- is punctuated by looped projections, among which a 35 mm rare film, Grenoble 1928 by Robert Bastardie with a contemporary live sound composition by Giuseppe Gavazza and Quand Grenoble se prépare, INA collections, on a taxi driving through Grenoble in 1967, as the city prepares the Olympic Winter Games.
A photographic exhibition of contemporary passages will complete the journey at the Maison de l’Architecture de l’Isère.
