Mitte, Berlin, Germany, 2005

This monument was built in memory of the Jews exterminated by the Nazis. It groups 2 711 steles aligned next to each other. The blocks of different sizes and up and down alleys form a maze supposed reproducing an atmosphere of unease, fear and loneliness. Those  passages are the result of a very dramatic architecture and scenic dynamic.
To provide a gathering place for neo-Nazi splinter groups, the government preferred to overlook monuments and headstones.
